NZ Music month at the Terrace
Yes, this blog is a bit delayed....i lost my camera so didn't have any pictures to show you.
May 2010 was so busy in Dunedin this year for local music - so good to see. I myself had a busy month and absolutely loved playing with the Mighty Mightys again at the Terrace on the 21st May.
It was the first outing for the Band SMALLAXE, who features Scott Brown (also from the Mightys) and his friends. They played reggae funk stuff and I thought they were great.
Then was us, we had a slightly new line up. Our new drummer was Shayne Sparks (of the former band Replica). On keys we had Michelle Yeo (formally from Soul Deep) and Luke Flanders filled in on electric gat (at the last minute and did a fantastic job I might add - thanks Luke).
Then were The Du Cats Kit - who if you haven't seen them before you must. A funky rock mix - reminded me of the band The Living End, but very tight, and the drummer was amazing. Listen to their stuff here.. http://www.myspace.com/theducatskit
And Queen Annes Revenge, the heaviest band of the night but again were real tight, and had the funkiest bass player. Check them out at www.myspace.com/revengeofqar
Overall and enjoyable night, thanks to the Terrace and Ian from The Event Management Company for doing the sound.
Check out these pics...(the photo uploader is not working ill try a little later)
